The Mesa County Health Department will hold extended hours Thursday , Oct. 20 for children who need school vaccine catch up or flu shots. The Public Health Clinic , 510 29 ½ Road , will be open until 7 p.m. and walk-ins are welcome from 3 – 7 p.m. that day.
This extended hours event should alleviate some stress for parents who need to catch their kids up on school vaccines , but have been struggling to find the time between work schedules and busy lives.
It’s also a great time to stop in and have your child vaccinated for flu , as the season is about to ramp up and typically lasts through March. Children spend much of the winter season sharing close quarters in classrooms. It’s important to be vaccinated to prevent the spread of diseases in our community.
Bring your insurance card for faster service. Those without insurance are still eligible to receive vaccination at a discounted rate , so don’t let cost be a barrier. Our staff will work with your family to make sure your children have the coverage they need this flu season and school year.
If you cannot make it to the extended hours event , contact your health care provider or Mesa County Health Department at (970) 248-6900 to make an appointment for vaccinations.
